Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis is travelling to Trinidad and Tobago to attend the 2-day Regional Symposium hosted on the theme of “Violence as a Public Health Issue – The Crime Challenge”. The event will be held in Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain on Monday, April 17 and Tuesday, April 18.
The CARICOM heads of state will attend the Regional Symposium hosted by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley. Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, is among the seven regional heads of state who will be in Trinidad and Tobago for the meeting.
Further, since the Prime Minister takes the lead for the responsibility of health in CARICOM, he would get the chance to address the heads of the state meetings as the lead head for health. Dr Terrance Drew, who handles the Ministry of Health in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, travels to Trinidad and Tobago directly after concluding his visit to Washington, DC.
Dr Drew travelled to Washington as the Minister of Finance for the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. During the regional symposium, PM Drew will highlight how crime and violence challenge Public Health for the CARICOM Region. The address of Prime Minister Drew will take place on Monday, April 17, 2023.
Notably, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley, is the regional lead head of The CARICOM, responsible for Crime and Security. Accordingly, The CARICOM Heads of States gave PM Rowley the responsibility of hosting the regional symposim discussion crime and security.
Notably, Dr Terrance Drew is attending the regional symposium hosted under he theme of “Violence as a Public Health Issue – The Crime Challenge” along with sveeral critical members of some offices of St Kitts and Nevis that fall under the prime Minister’s jurisdiction. The members include:
Naeemah Hazelle, Permanent Secretary in the office of the Prime Minister
Cecile Hull, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security
Dr Sharon Archibald who serves as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health
Dr Patrick Martin who serves as the Adviser in the Ministry of Health.
