St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and his wife, Diani Jimesha Prince Drew joined the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation’s Annual Pink Walk which started at Buckleys and ended at the Frigate Bay on Saturday, 26th October 2024.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew shared the glimpses of the walk on his official social media and enlightened the citizens and his followers about breast cancer being one of the most common cancers in the Federation.
While sharing the highlights, he stated that breast cancer is amongst the most commonly caused cancers in St Kitts and Nevis and that it disproportionately affects girls and women. He also emphasised that community walks such as this one are important to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

Significantly, Sports Minister Samal Duggins and the Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley also joined the Pink Walk. Minister Hanley shared his experience through his official Facebook and mentioned that he put his effort in supporting the Annual Essence of Hope Pink Walk. He also said that it was a successful walk.
In addition to this, a team of the St Kitts and Nevis Defence Force led by the Acting Commander of the SKNDF, Major Sutton also joined the Pink Walk. The team shared the highlights from the event and also shed light on the regular Breast Self-Examination for women.

In the awareness of Breast Cancer during the month of October, the SKNDF has urged all the women to do their Breast Self-Examination (BSE) regularly, and to visit their doctor if any abnormality is detected. They also noted that if one is forty years (40) or above, they should so their mammograms annually.
Notably, the organisers, the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, have extended their heartfelt gratitude for the support from all the citizens and ministers of the Federation.
