Papua New Guinea cricket team arrived in St. Kitts on Friday, ahead of 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. As the team arrived in the twin-island Federation, they received a warm welcome by the Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins.
The team is preparing for their upcoming tournament with full zeal and enthusiasm. Their arrival is a significant recognition of the government’s ongoing efforts to develop sports in the island nation.
Sharing the news of the emergence of Papua New Guinea cricketers, Minister Duggins expressed his gratitude and honour through his official social media handle (Facebook).
“As the Minister of Sports, I had the distinct honour of welcoming the Papua New Guinea Cricket Team to our beautiful twin island federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as they prepare for the 2024 ICC World Cup,” added Sports Minister.
He hailed the presence of team in the country as it will add immense value to promote the local talent as the government is focusing to take the cricket on higher level. The authorities are looking forward to offer the best hospitality services to the team, with a vision to make their visit unforgettable and comfortable.
Papua New Guinea Cricket Team
The Papua New Guinea (PNG) national cricket team, also known as the Barramundis, represents their country at international level. They have also been an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1973.
The cricketers of PNG have achieved milestone as they performed exceptionally well and secured victory in all six matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific (EAP).
Their victory made them to secure their spot in the most anticipated cricket tournament of the year, ICC World Cup 2024, where they will be going to compete with top cricket team across the globe.
