Basseterre: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Denzil Douglas extended good wishes to St. Kitts and Nevis track and field athletes enroute for the Whitsuntide Games. The competition is set to take place at Kirani James Athletic Stadium in Grenada on Saturday.
Coach Timothy Morton will head the team for their upcoming tournament and he will be joined by Karlene Williams (Carifta Games Chaperone) later. The team includes the following athletes:
- Aldrett Nisbett – 100m
- Chesson Liburd – 100m
- Akanye Samuel-Francis – 400m
- DeCheynelle Thomas – 400m
The information about the above-mentioned has also been shared by St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics on their official social media handle (Facebook). The officials quoted, “A small contingent is enroute to Grenada for the Whitsuntide Games which is slated for Saturday.”

In addition to this, the qualifying teams will receive an opportunity to secure their spot in World Athletics U20 Junior Championship, which is scheduled to held in Lima, Peru in August. SKN Athletics wished them luck and hoped for the victory for their team.
“This contingent is hoping to join our qualifier, Ms T’anna Liburd for the championship,” SKN Athletic remarked.
The people across the region expressed their excitement and extended greetings to their sprinters for their forthcoming matches through their comments on Facebook.
While reacting to the news, a person named Neville Manning commented, “All the best now. Only your best will be expected. Have fun while winning.”
Similarly, another FB user, by the name of Daisy Sharpe quoted, “Go get ‘em guys!!! Wishing the town all the best.”
Moreover, the Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins wished the World Junior for the best journey and victory for the Whitsuntide Games. “Wishing our World Junior hopefuls all the best as they head to Grenada for the Whitsuntide Games tomorrow,” he said.
About Whitsuntide Games
Whitsuntide Games is an annual event, which is organised by Grenada Athletic Association (GAA). It serves as a platform to the athletes and offer them an opportunity to qualify for major international track and various field meets.

The sources revealed that over 200 athletes around the various Caribbean regions are going to compete in the tournament at Kirani James Athletic Stadium in Grenada.
According to GAA, around One-hundred and four athletes from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, fifty-three from Barbados and a contingent from Trinidad and Tobago are the competitors, who will add Caribbean flavour to the event.
The tournament is divided into two main sessions i.e., a morning session at 9:00 am and an afternoon session at 4:00 pm.
