St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) has secured a clear majority in the National Assembly, winning six seats on six out of eight, following August 5, 2022, General Elections of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis.
The country hosted the general elections on Friday, August 5, 2022; meanwhile, the results for the same were announced throughout the next day, Saturday, August 6.
According to the results, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) elected six of their eight nominated candidates to the general assembly. The constituencies #1, #2, #3, #4, #6 and #8 chose the political party to represent them in the General Assembly for the subsequent tenure.
From Constituency #1, Geoffery Hanley was elected as the people’s representative.
From Constituency #2, Voters chose Marsha Handerson to represent them in the general assembly.
The people elected constituency #3’s Konris Maynard as their representative
Constituency #4 chose Samal Duggins as their representative in the general elections.
From Constituency #6, Dr Denzil L Doughlas was elected as the people’s representative.
Constituency 8 elected Prime-Minister candidate and Leader of the SKNLP as their representative
Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister Elect and the leader of the Political Party, took to his Facebook account after the declaration of the results to thank the residents and citizens of St Kitts and Nevis for showing their faith and trust in St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party.
Leader of the People’s labour Party and Former Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, took to his Facebook account to congratulate Dr Drew on his election and appointment as the country’s future prime minister.
People’s Action Movement also extended their greetings to the SKNLP and Dr Terrance Drew on assuming the leadership of the country.
The post read,
“The people have spoken. We encourage you to work tirelessly, with the privilege of service that you have been given, to prove yourself equal to fulfilling their expectations for progress and prosperity, even as you advance our nation, regionally and internationally.”
Mark Brantley took to his official Facebook account to congratulate Dr Terrance drew and SKNLP for winning a majority of seats in Friday’s elections. He further hoped that they may now focus on healing and national building.
