The results for the general elections hosted by St Kitts and Nevis on Friday, August 5, 2022, have been declared. St Kitts and Nevis Labour party (SKNLP) has emerged as the clear winner of the electoral process, having elected six of their representatives for the general assemblies.
After the successful conclusion of the electoral polls on august 5, the counting of ballots had been underway for more than fourteen hours. The results from the various constituencies were declared at different times throughout the day.
Results from eight constituencies out of the total eleven had been declared a few hours ago. Now the remaining three constituencies have also proclaimed their winners.
Constituency #3, #4, and #6 have elected candidates from the SKNLP to represent them in St Kitts and Nevis General Assembly.
From constituency #1, the eligible voters cast three thousand four hundred and seventy-nine (3,479) valid votes. St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) Candidate Geoffery Hanley secured a win for his political party with a total of one thousand nine hundred and ninety-seven (1997) votes.
Hanley defeated his competitors with a gaping margin of more than one thousand two hundred votes in his favour. Jaqueline Bryan of the People’s Labour Party (PLP) managed to secure seven hundred and thirty-seven (737) votes for her political party from the constituency.
Meanwhile, People’s Action Movement (PAM) candidate Natasha Grey-Brooks managed to gain seven hundred and forty-five (745) votes for her political party, accounting for twenty-one per cent (21%) of the total votes respectively.
From Constituency #2, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) candidate secured a massive victory, having garnered a total of one thousand eight hundred and forty-one (1841) votes. People’s Action Movement (PAM) candidate Jonel Powell secured seven hundred and thirty-seven (737) votes for his political party.
People’s Labour Party (PLP) candidate Nubian Greaux gained a total of seven hundred and seven (707) votes.
From Constituency #8, the leader of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, Dr Terrance Drew, managed to secure a landslide victory against his opponents. Dr Drew gathered two thousand nine hundred and fifty (2950) votes.
People’s Labour Party Candidate Andrew Bass secured seven hundred and sixty-one (761) votes. In comparison, Chesley Hamilton of the People’s Action Movement managed to gather a total of eight hundred and ninety-five (895) votes from the constituency’s residents.
The latest results have ensured St Kitts and Nevis of the constitution of a majority government by St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) headed by the party leader, Dr Terrance Drew, as the future prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis
