Southern University and A&M College signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture in St Kitts and Nevis at the Government House on 27 December 2023.

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins, and Minister of Education. Dr Geoffrey Hanley and the Cabinet Secretary joined Governor General Dame Marcella Liburd for the MOU signing ceremony.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Southern University and the Ministry of Agriculture includes diverse facts, giving benefits to farmers and the general population.

Southern University Agriculture Research and SUAREC aims to provide valuable consultancy services to the Ministry of Agriculture in order to contribute to the enrichment of knowledge and skillsets among farmers in the Twins Islands.

The MOU collaboration aims to help agricultural practices and empower the farming community with the latest insights and expertise in areas such as crop development and medicinal plant research, specifically concerning medicinal cannabis and livestock farming.

The Southern University Agriculture Research and Extension Centre plays a vital role in enhancing the welfare and advancement of the agricultural industry within the Federation.

In order to fulfil the objection of the MOU, the members of the SU delegation will have an opportunity to embark on a comprehensive tour of Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).

This visit is a continuation of when both institutions signed an MOU with the Ministry of Education back in September 2023.

During their time at CFBC, representatives from SU engaged extensively with various stakeholders associated with the Ministry of Education, including officials and leaders from CFBC itself, as well as secondary school principals.

The primary purpose behind this visit is that it seeks to foster closer ties between SU and educational entities; secondly, it also aims to identify potential areas for collaboration on academic endeavours that can be pursued jointly by these organizations.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) contains important provisions such as the use of in-state tuition fees for undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Furthermore, Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) degree recognition is not as it not only streamlines the learning process but also significantly reduces the overall learning time and cost for students. In keeping with its promise of accessibility, the University of the South (SU) goes a step further by recognizing.

Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) courses for accreditation, facilitating the transition university well. This collaboration is historic in its delivery, providing citizens and residents of St Kitts and Nevis with access to health care services.
