The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, took to his social media account to share an update about the election petition filed by the opposition party, NRP. The Premier received the courts’ notice on January 11, 2023. The day is also the politician and CCM leader’s birthday. The Premier of Nevis shared on his social media post that he was working on his birthday.
He stated that he received the court’s notice regarding the election petition filed on Friday, January 6. The Premier noted that the election petition was filed by Nevis Reformation Party politicians Patricia Bartlette and Jaedee Caines.
He explained that he had read through the court notice. At the same time, Premier Brantley thanked Patricia Bartlette for her “birthday gift”, remarking that a fool and her money are soon parted.
Premier Mark Brantley believes that the election petition filed in the court of St John’s is baseless. He has assured the supporters of the Concerned Citizens Movement in an earlier post dated January 6 that he will defeat the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) ’s attempt to elongate the election season.
He expressed confidence in his ability to defend himself and his political party in the court. Mark Brantley also assured them that the government that the people of Nevis have elected in the assembly elections would withstand scrutiny. He further noted that The Concerned Citizens Movement political Party won the popular vote, and the political party won the most seats.
In the post he shared on January 6, Premier Brantley assured the people that he would defeat the Nevis Reformation Party in the court as he did on several occasions before (Kangaroo Commission in Inquiry, defending Vance Amory), among several other instances.
Mark Brantley reiterated that as the Premier of Nevis, he would remain steadfast in defence of the Democracy in Nevis that his political party hold dear and value greatly.
