The captain of the Leeward Islands Females Cricket Team, Jahzara Claxton, leads the team to second place in West Indies Riding Stars U-19 Championship. The information was made live through Facebook on July 15, 2024.
The Leeward Island’s Female Cricket Team currently led by the captain Jahzara Claxton of St. Kitts has achieved a historic milestone by finishing second in the prestigious West Indies Rising Stars Women’s U19 Championship.
Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins took his Facebook and mentioned that he is elated to extend his heartfelt congratulations to the female cricket team for their remarkable achievement in finishing second in the CWI U19 Rising Stars Championship.
He specially mentioned of Jahzara Claxton, who led the team with exceptional skills and determination as a captain. He applauded her performance that earned her the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. She was also titled as the batter with the most runs.
“We are incredibly proud of her and the six others talented Kittians who were part of this formidable squad,” Minister Samal Duggins added.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Denzil L. Douglas also congratulated the team on the win and Jahzara Claxton on MVP Award of the Tournament.
Jahzara’s outstanding tournament performance earned her the MVP award, with 11 wickets and 191 runs at an average of 43.75.
There are nine representatives from St. Kitts and Nevis, including an assistant coach, in an eighteen-member delegation. This proves to be a significant accomplishment and also highlights the strength and potential of the athletes.
Despite of the equal fight put up by the other team in previous tournaments, the Leeward Islands Team demonstrated notable improvement and competitive spirit throughout the championship.
