Dillon Simmonds and Rodison Jeffers have both departed to Germany to pursue a three year intensive dual vocational training programme. They will be pursuing their education in the field of electronics engineering in partnership with Germany.

The two twenty year old boys will be part of the first cohort from St Kitts and Nevis to participate in this initiative. The stakeholders highlighted that the initiative is a part of an agreement between St. Kitts and Nevis and the Chamber of Crafts in Flensburg, Germany.

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis was responsible for championing this initiative with the stakeholders of the Chamber of Crafts. The Prime Minister met with the stakeholders from the Chamber of Crafts in Flensburg, Germany during the previous year.

During this meeting, he had discussed the possibility of venturing into a partnership with Germany for the improvement of technical training for the youngsters of St Kitts and Nevis. The members of the community have shared that it is important for the youngsters to have access to facilities that can help them add to their skills.

In a previous update, Dr Terrance Drew had confirmed that he liked the dual vocational nature of the training programme. This means that the two youngsters will not only be getting training for their field, but also get a job to get on ground experience.

This means that during the three year Programme, the youngsters will learn to work on the field and return to the federation as experienced workers. This will make sure that they have enough capability and experience for a job.

The two youngsters Dillon Simmonds and Rodison Jeffers have already left for their first session at the German University. The youngsters have signed employment contracts with German companies based in Sylt and Niebüll.

They will be pursuing a ‘Bachelor Professional’ certification in electronics for energy and building technology. The Prime Minister had been working on this vision for almost five years and was proud to see it working for the youngsters of St Kitts and Nevis.
