The St Kitts Tourism Authority informed stakeholders on Monday that the Koningsdam has cancelled its call to St. Kitts on Wednesday 11th March, 2020.
The Tourism Authority gave no reason for the cancellation of the 2,650-passenger vessel.This is the second cancellation for the 2019/2020 cruise season by the Pinnacle-class cruise ship currently operated by Holland America Line, a division of Carnival Corporation.
Ships cancelled for the 2019/2020 season include the 3,592-passenger Caribbean Princess, the 5,400-passenger Norwegian Bliss, the 5,183-passenger Norwegian Epic, the 4,580-passenger Regal Princess, the 6,400-passenger Allure of the Seas, the 3,100-passengerAzura and the 110-passenger Sea Dream II.
The 2019/2020 was already projected to see less cruise ship calls and less passengers compared to previous years. Taxi operators and tourism stakeholders have said the 2019/2020 cruise ship season has been the worst in years.
On a visit to Old Road, part of his St Christopher 4 constituency, Minister of Tourism, Hon Lindsay Grant was greeted with a large placard on Saturday declaring him “Worst Tourism Minister ever!!! Go ask Taxi Men.”
