The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Denzil Douglas extended his heartfelt wishes to the students, who were honoured during the Department of Gender Affairs’ second Boys of Excellence Awards Ceremony. The event was held on Thursday at the CUNA Conference Room.
The award ceremony was held in the observance of ‘International Day of the Boy Child.’ The awards were presented to Twenty-one (21) boys from both public and private primary schools of St. Kitts on the basis of their exceptional contribution in school and also in extracurricular activities.

Notably, Minister Douglas took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to share the glimpses of award ceremony. He said, “They (students) were awarded in the areas of respect, self-control, compassion, discipline and for demonstrating exemplary attitude and behaviour in school, the community, and for participating in extracurricular activities.”
Further, many government officials paid their presence in the event including Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, Deputy Prime Minister Geoffrey Hanley, Minister Konris Maynard, Minister Isalean Philip and Minister Samal Duggins among others.

Such an events underscore the importance of promoting the well-being of boys in the society. The Minister of Agriculture, Duggins highlighted the significance to nurture, and empower the boys of the country and guide them to become the vest versions of themselves.
He called for an urgency to extend support and protection to them in every field such as academics, sports and arts to foster their confidence and well-being. The authorities are committed to paving a path for them to thrive.
“Here’s to raising boys of excellence who grow into men of calibre,” said Minister Duggins.
