On the second day of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2022), St Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders played the tournament’s second match on September 1, 2022. The Knight Riders secured victory against Saint Lucia Kings, defeating them by three wickets.
The match was hosted at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium Stadium in St Kitts. Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and decided to field, which worked out in their favour.
The Kings started slowly; however, they managed to put a total of 143 runs on the scoreboard at the end of their 20-over innings. They picked up pace in the last overs of the match and put an incredible 40 runs on the scoreboard in the final three overs of the game.
Roshon Primus, who made 38 runs off 25 balls, and Mark Deyal, who managed to gather 35 runs off 24 balls, led the charge for the Kings. The Kings eventually picked up the speed and scored 40 runs in the last three overs helping their team put a decent score on the board for their rival team to chase.
The opening batsman of the Trinbago Knight Riders, Tion Webster, scored a fifty to carry the charge. He was partnered up by Tim Seifert, who made a decent 34 runs to guide the Knight Riders towards victory.
Saint Lucia Kings gave their opposing team the target of 143 runs after losing 9 wickets in twenty overs. However, Trinbago Knight Riders chased to secure a total of 148 runs, having borne the loss of 7 wickets in 19.2 overs.
Akil Hosein of the Trinbago Knight Riders also managed to secure three wickets in a single over. At the end of the innings, his figures read 4-13.
The Captain of the Trinbago team, Kieran Pollard, not only saved a six but also pulled off an unbelievable catch, which can easily be considered the magic moment of the match. It was a tight fight between the two teams, but Knight Riders managed to win by three wickets with only four balls to spare.
