St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are facing the Trinbago Knight Riders in the final of the inaugural 6IXTY Men’s Series, following victories over the Jamaica Tallawahs and Barbados Royals, respectively, at Warner Park in St Kitts on Sunday.
The first game of the semi-finals saw St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, who had lost to the Jamaica Tallawahs earlier in the competition, exacting their revenge on Sunday, August 28.
On Sunday, the match saw some lusty hitting from the Jamaican team’s all-rounder Fabian Allen and Andre Fletcher of the SKN Patriots.
The Jamaica Tallawahs batted first and managed to score a competitive 122 scores for the loss of 4 wickets. Allen was the highlight of the Tallawahs’ innings with a 33-ball 82 that included three fours and nine massive sixes.
However, Tallawahs failed to capitalize on Allen’s whirlwind knock, as Kennar Lewis (12) and Raymon Reifer (10) were the only other batters in the team who managed to score in double digits.
Needing a total of 123 runs to get into the final, SKN Patriots were led by Andre Fletcher’s unbeaten 30-ball 60, which included five fours and as many sixes.
Evin Lewis got the SKN Patriots off to a flying start with 21 from just eight balls that propelled the side to 38 runs inside three overs.
Sherfane Rutherford scored 11 runs from six balls, and Dewald Brevis scored a five in as many deliveries. Still, the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle (10) and Fletcher led the Patriots to a seven-wicket victory with four deliveries left.
Nicholas Gordon was the best of Jamaica Tallawahs’ bowlers but proved expensive with two wickets and 35 runs from his two overs.
In the second semi-final, Rahkeem Cornwall of the Barbados Royals hit four fours and three sixes in his 15-ball 36 to lead the team to a total of 101 runs with five losses. He was supported by Corbin Bosch (21) and Kyle Myers, who scored 15 runs from a mere seven deliveries.
Terrance Hinds was the best of the Knight Riders’ bowlers, with three wickets and 13 runs from his double-over.
The Trinbago Knight Riders made light of the chase securing 104 runs with four wickets from 8.4 overs. Sunil Narine and Tion Webster got the team off to a good start scoring 42 from 19 balls.
Narine scored (35) runs from just 16 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Webster was equally efficient, scoring (27) runs from 13 balls, including two fours and two sixes, as TKR raced to a total of 68 runs in 36 balls before Bosch bowled him.
Andre Russell was run out for 17, having played six balls, but with 19 runs from the last three overs, Hinds scored 12 runs from six balls and Tim Seifert nine from four deliveries, which ensured that the team achieved the target without any further loss.
