Saint Lucia: Criminals broke into the Vieux-Fort Branch of the Bank of Saint Lucia on September 27, 2022. The bank branch is situated on Clarke Street.

The bank employees informed the customers about the break-in after they became impatient while waiting for the bank facilities to start operating.

According to the sources, the employees gave out the information to the customers at around 8:15 AM. The customers were waiting outside the branch offices, wondering what was causing the delay in the bank’s opening. Following this, the employees informed the customers that the bank would be open tomorrow, Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Additionally, They were told that the ATM Machine is operational and that the customers may utilize the bank’s services at the Hewanorra International Airport branch.

It is unclear if the culprits were able to steal any money after the break-in. St Lucia police authorities investigate the crime scene for any evidence or clues. This situation has left the customers feeling very disappointed and concerned.

“People are desperate these days. They will do anything to survive,” Patrick Lindsay, a customer utilising the bank services this morning, told a media reporter on September 28.

He also added that the crime situation is rampant everywhere in Saint Lucia and not only in Vieux-Fort.

“Right now you don’t know who to trust,” he said.

Another customer of the bank expressed his opinion on the situation, with the words, the crime situation is getting worse in Vieux-Fort ever.

“Out of all days, today that happened. The day when I am so busy and in need of some money this morning,” another said, expressing disappointment over the timing.

Further, The Royal Saint Lucia Police force confiscated and ammunition as a result of a fire-arm raid conducted by the police authorities over the weekend. According to the police force, this nation-wide excersise will help comtrol the widespread crime in the nation.
