Minister of Agriculture of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins, came forward to greet his fellow nationals and citizens on the occasion of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.
He hoped to spread awareness among the residents and citizens to reduce the collective waste and loss of food. He wrote,
Today, September 29th, 2022, we join the rest of the World to commemorate the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste as we seek to promote awareness and collective action to reduce food loss and waste.
St Kitts and Nevis is celebrating the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste under the theme, “Stop Food Loss and Waste! For People and Planet”.
On this occasion, Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins, stated that food security and scarcity are elements we can all look at in our daily lives and improve upon, whether in business or our household.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins The observance of this day contributes significantly to raising awareness about the importance of issues and possible solutions surrounding threats to our food supply and promotes global efforts and collective action toward meeting SDG 12 -[responsible consumption and production].

On the occasion of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, the various ministers in St Kitts and Nevis and the rest of the Caribbean have been sharing awareness about food security.
Organizations like FAO, which are operational on a world level, have also taken this opportunity to address the World. They have urged the people totake immediate action to ensure that food wastage is cut down to a bare minimum in the upcoming year. Cutting down on food wastage will also help eliminate world hunger.
