A 61 year old man was sucked into a MRI Machine for walking into the room wearing heavy metal at Nassau Open MRI. The victim sustained injuries due to wearing the heavy metal chains and entering a room housing what is essentially a super magnet.
The victim who had been receiving treatment for the succumbed to his injuries. The investigating police officers have shared that the victim died on Friday,
The Hospital in Westbury, New York has clarified that the victim had entered an unauthorized MRI. The hospital authorities maintain that the scan was in progress whenthe victim entered wearing metal chains.
After the incident happened, the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his death. The officers of the Nassau County Police Department continue to investigate in the international
The officials have shared that thee people are warned to remove their jewelry items before entering the MRI room. This is because the MRI magnet is strong enough to rip any metals into itself, which in turn can cause serious accidents.
The identity of the victim has not been made public. however, the wife of the victim, who had been getting the MRI at the Nassau Open MRI center has spoken to the media.
She confirmed that she had called the victim inside to help her come out of the machine after her knee MRI. He came inside the rroom wearing heavy chains and was twisted and pulled in ny the machine.
The victim hit the MRI machine and got injured, meanwhile his wife was asking technicians to turn the MRI Machine off. The magnetism of the machine is extremely strong and thee affects can last for some time eve after the machine is switched off.
The officials have shared that they are extremely sad to see a life being lost in such a tragic manner. This also serves as reminder that the people should always heed the advice of medical technicians.
It is not allowed for people, or even MRI technicians to enter the MRI room with their jewelry
