The leader of the People’s Labour Party, Timothy Harris has paid tribute to the recently departed Vernita Amory. He took to his social media to extend his respects to the widow of the former Premier of Nevis, Vance Amory on Monday.
Vernita Amory passed away on March 18, 2026 leaving the nation mourning. With the first month anniversary of her passing approaching, Member of Parliament, Dr Harris has shared a detailed message of appreciation in the honor of the departed soul.
In his post, the Member of Parliament called Mrs Amory someone he considered a friend and said that he was fortunate to have spent years in her company. He further noted that the lady was a tower of strength for the former Premier of Nevis, Vance Amory.
Further in his post, MP Timothy Harris said, Her calm wisdom, quiet grace, and dignity supported him through many a critical moments.
The Member of Parliament also further noted that Mrs Amory sought to assist others without the need for fanfare. She has also supported several people in pursuing their education further and achieving their career goals.
She has played a very important role in uplifting the self respect of the people of the people. She was also a visitor of the Gingerland Library to read to the children.
Further paying his respects to the person that Vernita Amory was, MP Harris said, She was also a strong advocate for women’s empowerment. She engaged with others in such an unassuming fashion that many may not be aware of the lives she touched. She lived out her faith with trust, hope, compassion, and love for people, but was always tethered to reality.
MP Timothy Harris extended his condolences to the family and loved ones of Amory as they navigate the time of grief. He shared several images from his various meeting with the now departed Mrs Amory on his social media accompanying his post. The PLP National Leader also extended his deepest wishes for the soul of Mrs Amory to rest in peace.
