Donya L. Francis St. Kitts and Nevis’s Ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan) extended a courtesy visit to General Chen Chia-Chun of the Taichung City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau.
Ambassador of St Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan Donya L. Francis met with General Chen Chia-Chun on April 10, 2026. In the meeting they discussed exploring and proposing areas for enhanced cultural exchange between the city of Taichung and St. Kitts and Nevis.
During the discussion there was mention of St. Kitts and Nevis taking part in Taichung Jazz Festival and the Taichung International Instrumental Festival. Both the festivals are typically held in October.
Moreover, before this year’s official visit, St Kitts and Nevis last year took part in the Taiwan Instrumental Festival. Where Stephen Richards the Kittitian musician performed and led the Formosa Pandaz Steel Orchestra.
Ambassador Donya L. Francis appreciated the Taichung City Government’s efforts to continuously work on strengthening the bilateral cultural ties between the two countries. He said, “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Taichung City Government and the Cultural Affairs Bureau for our exceptional partnership. I also thank Mayor Lu for the invitations extended to me over the years to attend the Taichung Jazz Festival. I look forward to attending again this year, particularly if our Kittitian and Nevisian band is featured”.
On the other hand, Director General Chen also appreciated the efforts of Ambassador Francis for his longstanding support to Taichung’s cultural initiatives. She also acknowledged his attendance at the Taichung Jazz Festival and the Embassy’s donation of books to the Taichung Public Library.
Director General Chen has further invited Ambassador Francis For a tour to the Taichung Green Museumbrary, which is a new landmark of the city. The Taichung Green Museumbrary consists of an art museum and public library at the large urban park.
Additionally, for the Taichung Public Library, the Embassy donated six books and all the books were authored by St Kitts and Nevis writers. Tseng Hui-chun mentioned that all the books donated by the island have been popular among visitors, particularly children.
