St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force launched a new digital combat uniform for the soldier to celebrate the 59th Anniversary of the 10, June 1967 event. On this day an attempt was made to overthrow Robert L. Bradshaw Government which was foiled.
According to reports, some Anguilla insurgents attacked Camp Springfield to overthrow the Robert L Bradshaw administration on June 10, 1967. At the time, St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force handled the situation with courage, sacrifice and resilience.
In commemoration of the defence force efforts in defending the federation from the attempted coup, the defence force marched in new uniform from Warner Park down Victoria Road continuing it to Cayon Street along with onto Church Street.
Moreover, further in the march soldiers stop at the Government Headquarters to attend the remarks from the Prime Minister, Dr. Terrence Drew. After this soldiers continued their march onto Liverpool Row including Forts Street, Central Street and the march concluded at Camp Springfield.
Additionally, the march was led by the Acting Commander Major Kayode Sutton. Officials mentioned that the new launch of the Digital Combat dress reflects the vision of Major Sutton which aims to promote Professionalization, Modernization and Growth of the defence force.
St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force acknowledges the courage, determination and resolve of the soldiers who defended Camp Springfield approximately six decades ago. The Defence Force said, “Their services and sacrifice remain etched in our history and continue to inspire every generation of soldiers who follow”.
Major Kayode Sutton also shared that for decades St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force men and women are always ready to protect and stand for the country’s sovereignty including supporting law enforcement, contribution in regional security and early response during natural disasters and serving in St. Kitts and Nevis community work.
Major further shared his remarks on the launch of the New Digital Combat Dress. He said, “Today’s launch renews that commitment and shows our determination to remain prepared, relevant and effective in every mission.
