The Police Force of St Kitts and Nevis has shared an update on the Chinese national, Ziyuan Wang who was reported missing late in May 2026. The newest update on the investigation which has been ongoing for several weeks came on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The officials have shared that cruise ship crew member Ziyuan Wang, who was reported missing on May 27th 2026 died from serious injuries as a result of a fall. The confirmation for the cause of death came after a post mortem examination.
“A post mortem examination conducted on June 9th, 2026, determined that Mr Wang died as a result of injuries sustained in a fall from a significant height. The examination found no evidence of foul play, and the findings are consistent with a tragic accident,” police said in a statement.
After the cruise ship crew member went missing on May 27, 2026 and after nearly one week of searches, the Police found the victim dead on Monday, June 1, 2026. The extensive search and recovery operation ended in a ravine far from the established hiking trail. The search operation was supported by several individuals from the various communities of the island..
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis has extended their sincere gratitude to the people of the island. The organisation said that they owe a debt of gratitude to every agency and individual who gave themselves to this effort.

The search operation was also joined by many experienced volunteer hikers and members of the public who searched alongside the police and its various agencies.

The RSCNPF has extended its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Mr Wang’s family, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this profound loss.
