The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force has confirmed that they have found the dead body of the Chinese national in Mount Liamuiga who had gone missing the previous week. The police force has shared that the Chinese national identified as Wang Zyuan was found following an extensive six-day search. The body was found in the hills of Mount Liamuiga in St Kitts, which is a very popular trek site on the island.
The officials have shared that the Police force enlisted the support of local people in the search operation. The search operation took place for more than five days with the Police Force and the members of the general public.
“Zyuan had been missing on Mt. Liamuiga trail since Wednesday, May 27, 2026. He was located deceased on Monday, June 1st, 2026, by one of the search teams. The confirmation of this development came from an official police statement which was made on Monday.
The Police officers have shared that on May 27, several teams of dedicated community volunteers searched the mountain daily. The joint teams consisted of RSCNPF, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services, the Police Training School, the Forest Unit, the Red Cross, the Ross University K9 Unit.
“We are profoundly grateful to every person who gave their time and effort to this operation,” the police said.
Police said detailed information about the search party have been shared as they are not yet available, and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
The Force have extended their sincere condolences to Mr Wang’s family, friends, and associates during this painful time. The Police Force have shared that they are urging the public to refrain from speculation. The people are requested to rely only on official sources for accurate information as this matter proceeds.
