The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr terrance Drew was welcomed into Accra, Ghana with full state honors. The Prime Minister and his delegation, which consists of Dr. Marcus L. Natta, Cabinet Secretary, Ama Martin; Special Envoy of Saint Kitts and Nevis and her husband, Edward Martin. Sherema Matthew, Director of Communications at the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS); and Marva Pinney, Foreign Service Officer within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also accompanied the delegation.
The Prime Minister and his delegation landed in Accra on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 and were received by the leadership of Ghana. President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama formally welcomed the Prime Minister with full state honors.
The welcome ceremony included an official parade, led by the Ghana Air Force. The parade was symbolic of the relationship and respect between St Kitts and Nevis and Ghana.
The Prime Minister has shared some images from the event on his social media and expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Ghana. During his visit, Dr Drew also had the chance to interact with the Guard of Honour and he was given official introductions with members of the respective delegations.
The Prime Minister’s formal welcome into the nation, highlighting the two nations commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two nations, St Kitts and Nevis and Ghana established diplomatic relationship in the year 1993.
During the official welcome ceremony, the leaders took the time to reiterate their commitment to working together. They highlighted several areas of cooperation including education, trade, culture, and more.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis visited Ghana highlighting the historical and cultural connections that exist between the Caribbean and the African Continent. The visit is being marked by several crucial meetings between the leadership of Ghana and the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis. The beginning of these meetings started with the ibilateral discussions at Jubilee House.
In the Jubilee House, the two leaders discussed collaborations opportunities to be pursued between the two regions.
