St. Kitts National Housing Corporation (NHC) is working on providing homes to the families across the island in the form of apartments. Under the Renaissance project, NHC is constructing a Four storey residential building which features six two-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom apartments, and is on its way to completion.
The four storey building is situated at the junction of West Street and Manchester Avenue in Basseterre, St. Kitts. Under this public housing project organisation is making a total of Eight residential units to provide comfortable and optimized urban living to the people of the island.
According to reports, the project construction is being done as a part of joint collaboration between Evcon Limited and the National Housing Corporation (NHC) and under the management of local homebuilder Trevor Issac.
The National Housing Corporation is a government body and serves as the primary developer with the responsibility of overseeing the project standards, layout management and final unit allocation.
According to the NHC officials, the structure of the building is a combination of modern architectural aesthetics and high accessibility standards. In the building there will be a full elevator service which starts from the building main entrance and connects all four floors. The four storey structure also has dual access points, along with an open living room model which enhances the natural indoor air circulation and ambient light.
Officials even explained the building structure is made in consideration of the various safety protocols. The building’s outer structures consists of features like emergency escape which are built into its outer walls.
It has a special window which can be used for emergency exit if any individual is not able to use doors or hallways.
Additionally, for upper floors facility of emergency ladders is available, these ladders are attached to the building which can be used to climb down from upper floors to the ground. Also every single apartment has front and back balconies designed in a way that it helps stay clear of obstacles.
