Members of the public made a citizens arrest and intervened during a shooting incident which happened on Thursday. The citizens intervention was aimed towards protecting the victim in the incident and helped in the arrest of the suspect.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has confirmed the reports of the shooting incident, that happened at Baker’s Corner on Thursday night which resulted in injury for one victim. A 21 year old male victim , whose real name has not been made public, has suffered gunshot wounds after the shooting incident. He is a resident of Wellington Road and is currently being treated for his injuries. He was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital by ambulance.
The police officers from the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force are keeping apprised with the condition of the victim. According to the official reports, the victim is in a stable condition and recovering from his injuries.
The Police have confirmed the shooting incident that occurred at Baker’s Corner between 8 PM and 8:30 PM. The officers are currently conducting an investigation in the matter.
The Police officers have also made an arrest in the matter and a suspect is currently in custody in relation to the crime. The Crime Scene Unit of the RSCNPF processed the scene and several items of evidential value were recovered including a firearm, believed to have been used in the commission of the offence, was also recovered in the area.
In a statement the Police Force said that they are “deeply grateful for the community’s commitment to safety and willingness to act in defence of a neighbour.”
The Police officers have thanked the members of the public whose actions contributed to the arrest of the suspect. However, they have also expressed concern on the element of danger which existed in the situation.
They urged the people of the community to prioritise their own safety and security in situations where firearms and weapons are involved.
