St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) and American Airlines have been discussing the addition of an extra flight on Monday for the addition of an extra flight from St Kitts and Nevis. The additional flight has been added in order to make sure that people who were affected by the one day closure of the airspace in the Caribbean.
The closure of the airspace was done due to security concerns caused by the US backed military action in Venezuela in the early hours of Saturday, January 3. The closure of airspace for nearly the whole Saturday suggests led to last minute cancellations and delays in flights.
Officials confirmed that after discussions, American Airlines has agreed to add a relief flight for passengers in St. Kitts and Nevis.
January 3, the first weekend of the year, which was expected to bring a significant travel rush as the people were returning from their Christmas and new years day vacations. The cancellations and delays have led many individuals to be stranded without travel arrangements.

The SCASPA informed the people that the flight AA9612 will depart Miami International Airport (MIA) Monday morning (January 5th) at 8:00 A.M. The aircraft will land in St Kitts Robert L Bradshaw Airport at 12:22 P.M. The flight will leave St. Kitts for Miami at 1:22 P.M.
The flight has been announced to support the passengers who want to leave the island following their New Year Vacation. Many persons were to rejoin their work on the First Monday of the year after significant works.
The officials have shared that they are aware of the limited availability of seats on the flight so far. The people of the country can put in their rebooking requests exclusively through American Airlines Reservations or American Airlines Mobile App.
The requests will be entertained based on availability of the seats in the aircraft.
