PM Terrance Drew Meets St Martin’s PM to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew engaged in a productive session with the Prime Minister of St Martin, Dr Luc Mercelina during his recent visit to the island. PM Drew visited the French island in order to attend the opening ceremony of the 76th OECS Authority meeting, where St Martin officially became a member of the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).  

PM Drew and PM Mercelina had a discussion on several key areas focused on strengthening collaborative ties between both the nations. The talk between the two leaders specifically focused on enhancing the ties between the two nations in their respective tourism authorities.  

They specifically shed light on enhancing visitor experience, expanding opportunities for economic growth and make travel and business interactions between the two nations even more seamless and strong. 

At the meet, PM Drew pledged St Martin to provide their support to them in enhancing their agriculture sector. He also extended an open invitation to the PM Mercelina to visit their nation along with his team to witness the development in the nation and explore different areas of collaboration.  


This meeting was held after St Martin officially became the member of the OECS on Tuesday night. PM Drew also expressed is delight over welcoming the nation to the OECS and called it a historic moment.  

A truly historic moment unfolded as St. Martin officially acceded to the OECS, further strengthening the bonds between our Caribbean nations. This milestone reflects our shared commitment to unity, economic growth, and sustainable development across the region,” The Prime Minister said.  

He further emphasized that decision will further strengthen the bonds between the two nations and reflects the commitment of both the nations towards economic growth, and sustainable development.  

He also emphasized that the nations would have to work together for enhancing the Caribbean and the OECS common agenda of resilience and sustainability, “Looking forward to meaningful discussions in today’s sessions with other leaders from the region, as we continue working towards a stronger, more resilient Caribbean!”
