The veteran leader of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, Dr Denzil Llewellyn Douglas has completed 36 years as the Parliamentary Representative of Constituency Number 6. The politician, with decades of leadership under his belt, is celebrating the milestone with a church service.
The politician, who currently serves as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Commerce, et al. On Sunday, Dr Douglas will attend a church service at The Church of God of Prophecy.
The church service will be an opportunity to thank the God as well as people for his long service in Constituency 6. He has been working for the people of the constituency for more than three decades.
Dr Douglas has invited the people of Newton Ground, St. Paul’s, Dieppe Bay, Parson’s and Saddlers to join him in the celebration. He wants to celebrate this milestone with the people of his country and constituency
For twenty out of Thirty-Six years, Dr Denzil Douglas also served as the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis. The veteran politician commands the respect of several community members for his dedication to the nation
He has helped steer the country for the longest period as the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis. For two decades, starting from 1995 to 2015, he held the office of the Prime Minister.
As the second Prime Minister of the country, Dr Denzil Llewellyn Douglas has led the nation through more than half of the duration of the country’s independence. He also served as the leader of the political party currently in administration untill 2021.
He has carried the legacy of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, for nearly four decades and has been responsible for many crucial educational programmes. In nearly four decades as the parliamentary representative of Constituency 6, he has worked diligently for the welfare of the communities under his charge.
Notably, the Minister contested and won his first ever general election for the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party on March 21.
