The West Indies Championship is back this season with eight teams competing over 7 rounds of cricket matches and, and along with this, some new innovations have been introduced this year that will be carried out in all of the championship matches.

Among the new innovations introduced is that that Kookaburra balls (official red ball) would be used for the first two rounds and at least one pink ball would be used for one match per team, whether it is a day match or night one.

The officials then elaborated on the innovations, reporting that if the teams are tied, points would be given based on the first innings.

Additionally, Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket West Indies, noted that these new initiatives will provide regional players with the chance to learn and practice some of the challenges they may encounter on tour.
