St Kitts and Nevis: The Ikon Roots and Culture Summer Camp concluded with massive success and an unforgettable ending to the camp.
Minister of Public Infrastructure, et al., Konris G M Maynard took his official Facebook and shared the experience of each day of the summer camp and expressing the amount of fun the children had.
The Ikon Roots and Culture Summer Camp commenced with an excellent start on August 12, 2024 and Minister Maynard shared that the children had a marvellous time doing Arts & Crafts, Sewing, hair Braiding, Crocheting and Photography.
He also extended thanks to all the facilitators and volunteers for an excellent job for their dedication and passion and for organising the camp.

Due to the impending weather because of the Tropical Storm Ernesto, the camp was then continued to Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
On the second day of the Summer Camp, Minister Konris Maynard did his session on Calypso Music and on the third day the campers immersed themselves in the vibrant rhythms of steel pan, crafted their own calypso songs, and expressed their creativity through baking, dancing, art and craft, and crochet.
They also engaged in important lessons on environmental sustainability, learning how to make a positive impact on the Federation.
“Together we’re nurturing the next generation of cultural ambassadors and eco-conscious leader,” said Minister of Public Infrastructure.

The final day of the camp took place on August 16 and it was an unforgettable ending to the camp. On the last day of the Ikon Roots and Culture Summer Camp, the children embarked on an adventure of a lifetime aboard the St Kitts Scenic Railway.
The St Kitts Scenic Railway is a narrow-gauge railway that is one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, that offers stunning views of old sugar estates, sugar mills, and windmills while providing rich insight into the island’s unique history.
“The smiles on the children’s faces as they explored the heritage were truly priceless,” said Minister Maynard.

He also extended gratitude to all the parents for trusting their children, to the facilitators, camp leaders, and volunteers who put efforts to make this camp a success. He also thanked the sponsors who supported them and contributed to make the journey special for every camper.
“As we bid farewell to this years’ camp, we carry with us the memories of laughter, learning, and cultural discovery,” stated Minister Konris G M Maynard while sharing the moments of joy from the Ikon Roots and Culture Summer Camp.
