St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and Minister of Tourism Marsha T Henderson visited the RLB International Airport to launch the 4th generation Border Management System, which features automated passport control kiosks.
PM Dr Drew signed the agreement for the kiosks in 2022. He was immensely pleased to see the long-awaited agreement being implemented.
This move would ensure technological advancement in St Kitts and Nevis. The federal cabinet’s initiative would advance the concept of making the Twin Islands state a sustainable island.
This move anticipates modernising and bringing new technological services to the airport. The new system promotes the online entry application, introduces E-visa processing payment and features the Advanced Passenger Information dashboard among other systems.
PM Dr Drew became the first person to use the kiosks. He stated, “ I used the system myself today, and I am impressed by how user-friendly and efficient it is. The new system will definitely add to the experience of all visitors and nationals arriving to our shores”.
PM Dr Terrance Drew said that to establish a sustainable island state, it is pivotal to introduce technological advancement. Launching the 4th generation management system is the precursor to bringing the anticipated sustainable developed island state that is more modernised and digitally driven.
Minister of Tourism Marsha T. Henderson also attended the launch event of the 4th-generation border management system and stated, “This innovative kiosk will revolutionise the arrival experience for travellers, enhancing efficiency and convenience at our airport. Visitors can now breeze through immigration procedures with ease, reducing wait times and ensuring a smoother entry process into our beautiful country”.
In addition, Henderson said that implementing the 4th generation border management system is in accordance with the Ministry of Tourism’s key goals, duties and responsibilities, which is to enhance the overall experience for visitors.
