St Kitts and Nevis is celebrating International Women’s Day with the Women’s Day Brunch Symposium. The event is being hosted by the Department of Disabilities under the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Ageing and Disabilities.
The Brunch Symposium was hosted on March 6 as a prelude to the Women’s Day celebration. CUNA Conference room served as the venue for the pre-event which brought together women from all over the country.
The event aimed to highlight the journey of individuals living with disabilities. It celebrated the people who lead their lives with grace despite the challenges they face.
The International Women’s Day Brunch Symposium wanted to highlight women’s resilience. The stakeholders of the Department of Disabilities brought the women together and celebrated their achievements and individual journeys.
The attendants of the brunch symposium addressed their challenges and explored the various solutions. The 2024 edition of International Women’s Day will be celebrated worldwide under the theme: ‘Invest in women: Accelerate Progress’.
The event was hailed as a step towards inclusivity and growth. The St Kitts and Nevis administration, under the leadership of PM Terrance Drew, has been working diligently to ensure the upliftment of women.
The Minister of Gender Affairs, Isalean Phillip has pledged to ensure that women are not left behind in any walks of life. Under her charge, the ministry wants to ensure that women in St Kitts and Nevis have access to opportunities similar to those of men.
Minister Philip and other government representatives also attended the Women’s Day Brunch Symposium. The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Ageing, and Disabilities shared several images from the venue.
The turnout for the brunch event indicated that the celebration was a tremendous success. The event was proof of the government’s commitment to ensuring that women’s voices were heard.
