 The Kitts and Nevis National Festival Committee (SKNNCC) has proudly presented the outstanding results of the Jeowert and Road March competition during Sugar Mas52.

 The large category of J’ouvert Troupes .

  • The Red Devils took first place with an impressive total of 229 points.
  • Chattabox Jouvert and Extreme Jouvert placed first and second with qualifying prizes of $20,000 and earned $15,000 and $10,000

 Small J’ouvert Troupes category

  •  The Small Ax Band Jouvert Warriors emerged victorious with an exceptional score of 301 points, walking away with a $6,000 prize.
  •  Fantasy Jouvert and GM Addicks taking first and second place respectively, received $4,000 and recognition for their entertaining performance. 

Road March competition

 The road walk competition lived up to the hype, incorporating upbeat music that captured the essence of Sugar Mas52.

Little Ax Band learned unusual values ​​for a road march, including:

  • The prestigious Road March title.
  • Earning 816 points and a $20,000 prize. The Grand Masters Band took second place with their hit “Happy.”
  • Collecting 751 points and $15,000 in prize money. 

Despite being the most popular and most played song of the Sugar Mas52 Carnival Period, so far, the Nu Vibes Band could only secure third place with their most popular music it’s sharp on “Ken and Barbie,” collecting 740 points and a $10,000 prize pool.

Judging Format and Criteria 

Each contender’s 5-minute performance was meticulously scored by three judges at each point, with a comprehensive 100-point system that appraises performance, music, lyrics, and crowd response.

  • Crowd response 25 points

Time frame and Judging Parameters

The contenders had a single round to impress the judges and the crowd, which took place between the prime Carnival hours of 6-10 am. 

To maintain the integrity of the competition, independent DJs were not permitted to influence the scoring in any way, ensuring that the points were awarded strictly based on the contenders’ performances.
