Dr Geoffrey Hanley, the deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has announced emergency shelters for the people of St Kitts and Nevis. The announcement for the establishment of emergency shelters in line with the safety and security measures of the St Kitts and Nevis Government to protect the people of the country from the adverse impact of the Hurricane Tammy.
Hurricane Tammy, which was previously a tropical storm is approaching St Kitts and Nevis at an alarming speed of 80km/hr. The leaders of St Kitts and Nevis are taking all the necessary steps required for the safety of the people. Previously, the administration had ordered a school closure in the light of the impending weather conditions.
Additionally, the prime minister also returned from his Canada trip, for the inaugural Canada-Caricom Summit.
The preparation is ongoing for the country to combat and deal with the weather situation that the hurricane Tammy will bring over the weekend, October 21 and 22, 2023.
