The St Kitts and Nevis Federal Cabinet of Ministers, under the leadership of Dr Terrance Drew approved temporary concessions on school supplies. Under this concession, the government will not charge any taxes on sale and purchase of school supplies during the period Monday, July 10, 2023, to Saturday, September 30, 2023.
This announcement comes as a part of the measures that Dr Terrance Drew-led Administration has approved. Through implementation of the concessions,the government seek to ease the financial pressures of households, particularly single-parent households, with school-aged children.
The official reports suggest that the commercial and non-commercial, importers of the goods will be eligible to participate and benefit from this programme of the government. The prime minister has been working diligently to provide the people of the country with a better lifestyle.
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew recently visited the students of the Deane Glasford Primary school in St. Peter’s to assert his support to the students and their families during the time of financial strain.
According to Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr Terrance Drew, this initiative iz representative of one of the tangible ways that the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Administration is touching the lives of the people across the twin island nation. The Administration prioritizes the provision of education to the students of the country.
For this reason, PM Drew also provided free education to the students of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College. Additionally, the government is also providing free uniforms and textbooks for qualifying households
“In addition to free tuition for all students at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and free uniforms and textbooks for qualifying households, this is one of the numerous measures undertaken by our Administration since assuming office, to ensure further that no child within the Federation is left behind. Education is foundational to our Administration’s Sustainable Island State agenda”, said Prime Minister Drew.
