The prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew also the parliamentary representative of Constituency Number Eight in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, recently visited his constituency to check on the community’s people as they struggled with the drought. The country’s prime minister has been working with the water department to deliver water to the affected communities.
Prime Minister Dr Drew shared some glimpses from his meeting with the people of his community. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the people of the St Peter’s community for their patience and understanding during the crisis. The prime minister further shared that during his visit to the community, the fire truck came to assist and distribute water to the various members of the community.
The fire services, the water department, and Alexis Hazel have been working diligently to address the issue. Dr Terrance Drew shared his deepest gratitude to the authorities who have been working diligently to address the issue of water shortages within the community. He has been sharing regular updates with people through his social media.
The prime minister shared that the water department has started drilling wells within the Cayon community. He added that the well construction will also benefit the people of the St Peter’s Community. The lack of appropriate rainfall for the season has drastically decreased the community’s water reserves.
This is because 100% of the country’s water reserves depend on rainfall. This year, the nation has received 60% of the expected rain within the various communities. Accordingly, the communities have decreased access to potable water, which caused the water department of the country to implement various initiatives like rationing so as to get a handle on the situation.
