Minister of Public Infrastructure and Utilities & Post Konris Maynard visited the Carnival Village, where the final round of the Panorama Steel Pan Competition was hosted.
Minister Konris Maynard expressed his excitement about being a part of the competition, congratulated the Panorama Steel Pan Competition winners and even shared the musical contest results.
He also applauded all the competing teams for putting up a great show.
The winning team, EBJ Harmonics, have retained their title of the winners for the third time in a row. This year, the defending champions competed with the following teams for the competition’s title:
- PAN VYBZ STEEL ORCHESTRA
- NEVIS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT STEEL ORCHESTRA
- YOUNG VIBRATIONS STEEL ORCHESTRA
- PAN-DEMIC STEEL ORCHESTRA
- POINCIANA RHYTHMZ STEEL ORCHESTRA
- OUALIE RHYTHMZ STEEL ORCHESTRA
The Minister of Public Utilities has a special connection to the national carnival. He has contributed immensely to the National Carnival as he was crowned the Calypso Monarch in various years throughout his career as an artist.
Minister Konris Maynard also shared the result of the competition on his Facebook account. The comprehensive result also showcased the tunes and songs that the winning teams played while competing for the first place.
- The Winning Team, Island Flavours EBJ Harmonics Steel Orchestra, played the song, No Body Go Run Me, by King Short Shirt and received: 259 Points. These points aided the team in reclaiming the title of champions for the third time in a row
- 1st Runner-up, Young Vibrations Steel Orchestra, received 239 Points for playing Jumping Up Again, created by King Konris
- 2nd Runner-up Poinciana Rhythmz Steel Orchestra played Kes’s creation Savannah Grass and received a total of 226 points
- 3rd Runner-Up Oualie Rhythms Steel Orchestra received 219 Points for playing out and bad, created by Voice
Konris Maynard appreciated the second runner-up team for recreating the song he wrote: Much big up to Young Vibrations, who really made an outstanding arrangement of my song ‘Jumping Up Again’. It has my stamp of approval.
