The Sugar Mas 51, St Kitts and Nevis’ most awaited and most anticipated carnival, has opened with a grand affair on December 2, 2022. The opening event of the Sugar Mas 52 was titled Wonderland.
The event was hosted on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the carnival village.
The event followed the official opening parade, starting from the National Museum and ending at Carnival Village. St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee thanked the attendants of the opening event for making the ceremony an unforgettable experience.
The Facebook page of St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee featured a post about the opening ceremony, dubbed the Sugar Mas 51, Wonderland.
They wrote: Thank you for creating such wonderful memories at Sugar Mas Wonderland! It was one for the history books!
The Parade! The performances! The vibe! OMG
The post further revealed that the #SugarMas51 is off to a sizzling start! And urged the people of St Kitts and Nevis to make plans to experience all the pageants, soca and calypso competitions as well as Panorama.
The post urged the people of the federation to join a Jouvert or Grand Parade troupe. Vendors will be out in large numbers. Support them too, and be sure to attend a fete or two or three!

The event featured several performances from theatrical performers and music legends, such as the minister of Public Utilities, ICT, Konris Maynard, who was a highly decorated calypso monarch.
The opening event on December 2 also featured the introductions of the competitors for the various competitions: Panorama, Soca & Calypso Monarch, J’Ouvert Troupes, Pageant Contestants, Junior and Grand Carnival Parade Troupes.
The opening event for the carnival was attended by hundreds of Nationals who enjoyed every moment of their festivities. The political leaders and government officials also attended the openeing ceremony.
