St Kitts and Nevis has launched the “Building a Safe Space at Home” animation and Mental Health Dialogue. The launch event was hosted on Thursday, March 12, in the presence of several leaders, educators, counsellors, parents and students.
The CUNA Conference Centre served as the venue for the launch of the “Building a Safe Space at Home” animation and Mental Health Dialogue.
The event was hosted under the Mental Health Service System Enhancement Project. The initiative also had support from the Taiwan Technical Mission. The Taiwan Technical Mission has been working with the administration of the country to promote mental health.
The members of the administration have been promoting more focus on mental health of the people of St Kitts and Nevis. The focus has been put on the mental health struggles of the youngsters of the country.
The event focused on strengthening the mental health and well-being of young people. The aim of the administration is to encourage supportive, understanding and safe environments within the home.
Several important discussions took place during the course of the launch event, which highlight the challenges youth face today. The reasons included everything from academic pressures and social media influences to the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The leaders also reflected on the importance of collective action to support the youngsters in their mental health journeys.
The forum was attended by several government officials, civil society representatives, educators, and students. Together, they had the opportunity to explore solutions that can help young people feel heard, supported and empowered.
The event was also attended by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis. He shared that it was an opportunity for the leadership of the country to work together and provide safer, more understanding homes and spaces to the youngsters.
