The Minister of Agriculture in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins, took to his social media account to share his experience of engaging in a conversation with the fishing community members during a meeting on May 10, 2023. Minister Duggins shared that he invited the “fisherfolk” of the country for a significant interaction session.
Minister of Agriculture stated that he talked about a range of different issues which affect the industry. The meeting was a part of the Minister’s mandate to keep in touch with the community’s people. Minister Samal Duggins shared some glimpses from this meeting on his social media account as the Minister of Agriculture, fisheries and marine resources in the government of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Minister stated that during the interaction session, he had frank and open discussions with the fisherfolks of the country on the way forward to elevate the industry and food production in the Federation. He shared that the Fisherfolk are passionate about the work they are doing for the development of the Federation.
Accordingly, Minister Samal Duggins shared that he is equally passionate about the short-term and more comprehensive goals that we have set to transform the industry into a significant contributor to our economy. The Minister of Agriculture also shared a similar meeting with the country’s livestock farmers.
He engaged with the country’s livestock farmers and got himself updated on the issues and grievances they faced in their work. Minister Samal Duggins shared that he and his team are working diligently to benefit the country’s people. Accordingly, these meetings are critical in the mandate of the Minister. He regularly interacts with the members of his ministries to ensure that they have access to the best leadership and representation with them.
