The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has started the investigation into the attempted murder of a police officer. The incident happened in Pond’s Pasture, St. Kitts in the evening hours of July 30.
The Violent Crime Unit (VCU) responded to the reports of the shooting swiftly and efficiently. The shooting happened between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM near 𝐑𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.
The incident was reported to the police force leading to quick and efficient action from the RSCNPF. The victim has been identified as a 𝟐𝟒-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭.
The victim is a police officer serving with the RSCNPF. This resident of the Verchilds Village was at the 𝐑𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 when the shooting happened.
He was sitting with his back facing the main road. The shot hit the police officer in the back of his left shoulder while he was sitting with a group of other patrons of the food place under a tent.
After the incident was reported and the Police response team reached the scene of crime, they immediately secured the crime scene and transported the victim to the hospital. The Police officer is currently receiving treatment at the JNF General Hospital and is in the Surgical Ward.
The Police Force has confirmed that the victim is in a stable condition and improving steadily with treatment. Meanwhile, the RSCNPF has started the investigation into the matter and collected several pieces of evidence.
The officers have shared that this quick response is proof of the fact that the Police Force is dedicated to the quick resolution of the situation. The government has also been working with the police force to strengthen their response time.
The administration of St Kitts and Nevis has remained dedicated to giving the people a safe and secure community. The government sees this attack on a police officer as a direct attack on public safety.
