Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew to the members of the media during a press conference. Dr Drew, accompanied by the members of his cabinet, updated the members of the media about the various developments that the members of the media.
The Prime Minister, in his opening remarks at the press conference highlighted the development of the Basseterre High School. The educational institution is currently in the construction phase with preliminary works completed.
He highlighted that the they have stated the work on the school project after it had been idle for seven years. The foundation for the Basseterre High School has been laid and earthworks has also been completed.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew highlighted that the construction of the high school will start soon. While answering a question during the Press Conference, Deputy Minister of Education highlighted that he is happy to report that the students will get a new, state of the art school facility.
The Minister of Education highlighted that the school is being constructed almost similarly to a university campus. He highlighted that the school construction will predominantly utilize local workforce.
With 90 percent of the workforce being local, the Basseterre High School will help in generating more employment. The Depuy Prime Minister reported during the Press Conference that the construction of the Basseterre High School was in the government’s agenda for several years.
He acknowledged that the students did not have access to an education friendly environment for nearly a decade. Minister Geoffrey Haley highlighted that that is all set to change when the school reopens after construction.
The Basseterre High School will have access to state of the art modern technology. The school will also be equipped with modern climate smart infrastructure.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Geoffrey Hanley is keeping watch on the construction process. He is delighted to be the Minister of Education who will have the honor of delivering this school to students. Notably, the government is constantly making investment for developing education infrastructure across the island nation.
