PM Terrance Drew opens AfriCaribbean Investment Summit in Abuja, Nigeria

Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew has officially opened the Aquarian Consult AfriCaribbean Investment Summit in Abuja, Nigeria. Dr Drew was the featured speaker at the opening ceremony for the summit.

The AfriCaribbean Investment Summit is a platform for the Caribbean and African businesses and investment stakeholders to work together. The attendants of the event, which included a number of industry giants, shed light on collaboration opportunities available between the two regions. 

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis shared that the two regions also share common roots, history and heritage with each other. Dr Terrance Drew is accompanied by a large delegation of Ministers and government officials.

The members of the delegation also spoke at the opening day of the AfriCaribbean Investment Summit, and informed the attendees about the ongoing projects in the federation.

In his opening remarks at the AACIS, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis made the call for an era of solidarity, investment, and innovation. In his address, PM Drew highlighted that St Kitts and Nevis is currently making admirable progress on many developmental projects. 

He was proud to announce that the federation has seen significant investment in Geothermal Energy, Sustainable Agriculture practices and more. The Prime Minister also highlighted that they have significantly improved the Citizenship by Investment Programme of the country.

Talking about the Geothermal Project, he said that the nation is moving towards clean and renewable energy. The nation as well as several small island developing states can take inspiration from the project.

Further, the Prime Minister also noted that the Caribbean and the African Continent can collaborate for the development of the creative sectors of both regions. The cultural industries of Africa are booming and can help elevate the Caribbean as well. 

After the Prime Minister, Sanya Alleyne, representing the St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce also spoke at the summit. The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley shared an interesting update on the St. Kitts and Nevis Island Climate Enhancement Project (SKNICE)

In his address, Brantley highlighted that the federation has taken a lead on renewable energy with the geothermal project. These projects can help in meeting the country’s mandate of achieving climate resilience.
