The former husband of Norway’s Princess, Ari Behn died at the age of 47, informed his spokesman saying he had committed suicide.
Behn was an author. He has written several novels and plays. Behn married to Princess Martha Louise in 2002 but unfortunatley the couple got divorced couple of years ago.
According to Norway’s NTB agency Behn’s spokesman disclosed that former son-in-law of Norway’s King has taken his own life.
Norway’s king and queen said in a statement that Behn had been an important part of their family for so many years and we carry good and warm memories of him with us.
Behn who was born in Denmark, was seen as a controversial partner for Princess Martha Louise at the time of their wedding. Princess Martha Louise is the only daughter and eldest child of Norway’s King Harald and Queen Sonja.
Behn met Princess Martha through his mother, who was the her physiotherapy tutor. Behn was best known then as the author of a short book, Sad as Hell. But was caught in controversy and was seen partying with prostitutes who were taking drugs in Las Vegas in a clip.
The couple had three daughters – Maud, Emma and Leah – but they got separated in 2016 before divorcing a year later.
“We feel guilty because we are no longer able to create the safe harbour that our children deserve,” the princess said in a statement at that time.
Behn in December 2017, accused the disgraced Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey of fondling him after a Nobel Peace Prize concert. He said the Spacey had reached under a table and touched him inappropriately. However the actor did not respond to the allegation, one of many made at the same time.
King Harald and Queen Sonja said of Behn in their statement that they are grateful that they got to know him. “We grieve that our grandchildren have now lost their beloved father,” they added.
