Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) has announced the load shedding schedule for July 16 as the island addresses the technical issues that the community is facing. The officials have shared that they understand that the community will be inconvenienced with the power outage.
NEVLEC highlighted that it is important for the organization to deal with the technical issues and maintenance work in the early stages. The powerplant which NEVLEC is using for the transmission of power to houses across Nevis needs regular maintenance.
The schedule for the power outage has been confirmed
Date: Wednesday, 16th July, 2025
Time: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Affected Areas: Lampa Hill to Valu Mart
Communities which will be in power outage: Prospect, Brown Hill, Cherry Garden, Long Point, Bath, Farms)
Time: 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Affected Areas: Jessups to Clifton Estate
Communities which will be in Power Outage: Jessups, Fern Hill, Barnes Ghaut, Paradise, Colquhoun, Cotton Ground, Clifton Estate
The Nevis Electrical Company Limited has expressed their apologies for the people of the community who will be inconvenienced due to the outage. The officials have shared that after solving the technical issues, NEVLEC will be able to provide more reliable access to electricity to homes across the island.
NEVLEC is doing load shedding work for different communities on different days across the island state. The officials of the NEVLEC share regular updates regarding the power outages and loadsheddiing to help people in preparing for the hours without electricity.
The regular updates also help people stay alert and ready with emergency measures. NEVLEC has urged people to stay safe during the load shedding power cut hours.
The organization has also urged the people to make sure that they keep their appliances and electrical equipment safe in the event of voltage spike during, before or after an electrical outage.
