The prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, recently attended the National Consultation on Mental Health held at the Marriott Ballroom. The Prime Minister also handles the responsibility for the Ministry of Health in the government of St Kitts and Nevis. Accordingly, he has a deep understanding of mental health-related issues and the significance of proper care for one’s mental health.
Dr Drew announced on his social media of his participation in the National Consultation on Mental Health. He claimed that Mental health has emerged as a crucial topic that demands our attention. The Ministry of health has hosted this consultation in tandem with the Pan American Health Organization to address this pressing concern.
The Minister of Health, Dr Terrance Drew, announced that the this event served as a platform for a comprehensive discussion surrounding mental health. The event attendees got the opportunity to focus on collaboration and practical solutions.
The discussion on mental health has remained most active in the Twin Island Federation in the previous few months. Meanwhile, Dr Drew stated that the consultation aimed to bridge the gap between policies, practices, and the needs of our communities.
The leaders of St Kitts and Nevis have acknowledged on various occasions that the discussion of mental health is highly critical in modern times, especially for a healthy and fulfilled life for the country’s people. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew took the floor during the event to emphasise on the need for good mental health.

Further, Dr Terrance Drew stated, We believe that coming together and engaging in meaningful dialogue can pave the way for actionable strategies that will positively impact mental health in our nation. Together, we can make a difference!
Meanwhile, medical practitioner, CSSD ATTENDANT at JNF Hospital St Kitts, Patricia Hanley also expressed her agreement on increasing discussion on the topic of mental health and the national consultation.
She claimed, This is a topic that really and truly needs much attention. Iam vary much interested in seeing better care for people suffering with mental issues. Society looks down on these people. But everyone has some kind of cross to carry. hope something worth while comes out of this
