Jaycees International Queen title was brought home by St Kitts and Nevis’ National Carnival Queen, Nekirah Nicholls. She bagged the title Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2022 at the pageant held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Antigua and Barbuda hosted Miss Jaycees International Queen after a hiatus of two long years. They saw the contenders from seven Caribbean countries, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Haiti, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The 59th Miss Jaycees International Pageant was hosted under the theme, ‘Unleashing the potential within, through resilience and determination.’
Nekirah Nicholls, who represented the Twin Island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, was considered one of the front runners in the competition since it started.
She was poised and graceful throughout the show.
She won the hearts of the judges multiple times during the competition, winning in the judged segments of:
Best Interview
Best Swimwear
Best Performing Talent
Best Modeling Skills in Evening Wear
Wenia Verneuil of St Lucia won the remaining segment of Best Dressed for Evening Wear.
She was also considered the model most faithful to the theme of Jaycees International Queen. Later, Nicholls went on to win the title of Jaycees, with Chronna Khan of Trinidad & Tobago crowned the first runner-up and Wenia Verneuil of St Lucia bagging the spot of the second runner-up.
Shawn K. Richards, of the People’s Action Movement posted a congratulatory message on his facebook profile, applauding Nekirah Nicholls for her victory in the Jaycees Pageant.
His post said, “I would like to congratulate our very own Nekirah Nicholls who won the Jaycees Queen Show in Antigua and Barbuda moments ago. I am sure the entire of St Kitts & Nevis is proud of you!”
Nicole Gumbs and Iantavian Queeley, who had represented St Kitts and Nevis in the Jaycees International Queen in 2001 and 2011 respectively, were also declared the winners of the Miss Jaycees crown.
