Concerned Citizens Movement has unveiled the cabinet of Ministers for the newly elected Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley. The only woman in the five-member cabinet, Jahnel Nisbett, has received a congratulatory message from St Kitts and Nevis national Carnival Committee, SKNNCC.
St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee have expressed pride in their association with Nisbett. She participated in the National Carnival in the National Carnival Queen Pageant of the year 2015-16.
The Nevisian competed as contestant number six for the title of National Carnival Queen. She was unable to claim the title. However, she finished in the 2nd Runner-Up place.
St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee shared a shoutout post after her appointment in the cabinet of the Nevis Island Assembly as the senator.
In her position as the Senator, Jahnel Nisbett is responsible for the ministries of Health, Gender Affairs, Community Affairs and Social Services. She was sworn into the cabinet and introduced to her ministerial responsibilities in the ceremony held in ETW Park on Sunday, December 18, 2022.
Apart from being the senator in the Nevis Island Administration, Janel Nisbett is the Director of The Nevis Historical and Conservation Society. she was appointed the Director of the Society on September 1, 2021
She is a highly accomplished individual. Jahnel holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Anthropology from the University of the West Indies.
Jahnel has a passion for and commitment to historic preservation. Additionally, she also has extensive experience in civic education and democracy.
She was a CARICOM Youth Ambassador from 2015 to 2017. Jahnel Nisbett is a graduate of the ‘Women in Politics and Leadership Institute’ (U.S. Embassy Bridgetown). Additionally, she is the Chief Staff Sponsor of the 45th Leeward Islands Debating Competition and a co-founder of “Dutty Up Yuh Fingah”, – an island-wide youth voter education and mobilisation campaign started in 2020.
At age 31, Jahnel Nisbett was the youngest Director in the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society’s 40-year history. She holds experience as an educator at Charlestown Secondary and Gingerland Secondary schools. Further, she is highly committed to the natural and cultural heritage of Nevis.
