Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Konris Maynard will travel to Romania for the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) upcoming quadrennial Plenipotentiary Conference from September 26 to October 14, 2022.
The Plenipotentiary Conference is an essential event where ITU member states decide on the organisation’s future role in developing information and communication technologies (ICTs) worldwide.
At the meeting, Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Konris Maynard stated that “We are excited among the Caribbean leaders because we have an opportunity to elect for the first time one of our Caribbean counterparts from the Bahamas to sit at one of the higher levels of the ITU and so we are collecting support around the candidacy in the Bahamas.”
“This is an opportunity for the Caribbean and (his home country) St Kitts and Nevis to have a stronger voice and representation at the highest levels of telecommunications in our globe,” said the Minister.
Among the delegation who are attending the Plenipotentiary Conference with Minister of ICT, Konris Maynard are the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology along with two technical officers.
Minister of Information, Communication and Technology Konris Maynard accompanied the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance, to the 77th Edition of the United Nations General Assembly, along with a delegation of ministers and civil servants.
The delegation featured the likes of Dr Denzil Douglas, Dr Joyelle Clarke, Minister of Sustainable Development; Nerys Dockery, UN Ambassador-designate; Naeemah Hazelle, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister; Samuel Berridge, Senior Assistant Secretary, Regional Integration and Diaspora Unit, Office of the Prime Minister; Gurdip Dev Bath, Special Representative and Advisor to the Prime Minister and Dillon Edmeade, Aide to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, addressed the 77th United Nations General Assembly on Friday, September 23, 2022. He touched upon various issues of essential topics, like gender equality, climate change and the nation’s educational landscape.
