Three judge panel in Argentina sentenced two catholic priests guilty in sexually abusing deaf children for four decades. The jury took this judgment in the city of Mendoza.
It convicted Nicola Corradi to 42 years in jail and Horacio Corbacho to 45 years for molesting minors at the Antonio Provolo Institute for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children in Lujan de Cuyo, a town in northwestern Argentina.
The bench stated the punishments brought into consideration to the facts that the priests were accountable for the children’s wellbeing, as well as the fact that the sufferers were teenagers.
Notwithstanding, Pope Francis has not discussed aboveboard on the case, but in 2017, the Vatican commissioned two Argentine priests to examine what occurred in Mendoza.
As per Associated Press Agency, Corradi, an 83-year-old Italian, and Corbacho, a 59-year-old Argentine, were captured in 2016. Some other personnel at the academy were also taken into custody at the time. The priests refused to make comments in the proposition of the judges’ ruling but seemed drab as both appeared in the courtroom, with Corradi in a wheelchair, his gaze settled on the ground.
During the procedures, past pupils, young men and women, attested that the priests touched and sometimes assaulted them in their rooms and school lavatories. They also said they were compelled to watch obscene photographs. They said they were threatened to keep quiet.
